Press-On Nail Care & Reuse Guide

A Handora hand-painted press-on set is built to be worn 5 to 10 times. Below is the complete care protocol — written by our studio artists, refined over years of customer feedback.

Daily Care While Wearing

Wear gloves for wet work. Dishes, household cleaning, gardening, hair-dyeing. Two pairs of dishwashing gloves for $4 buy weeks of extra wear.

Cuticle oil daily — on the cuticle ONLY. If oil seeps under the press-on at the seam, you've created a wedge. Apply with a cotton swab, let it absorb fully before any hand-washing.

Avoid prolonged hot water. Quick showers OK. 30-minute baths and hot tubs degrade the bond.

Don't use your nails as tools. No can-tab opening, no sticker peeling. Once you crack a tip, the whole set is at risk.

How to Remove Without Damage

Three methods detailed in our full removal guide. Quick summary: soak 15-20 min in acetone OR use Handora Magic Remover (5-10 min, gentler).

Cleaning Glue Residue

After removal, examine the underside. Scrape larger dried adhesive with a wooden cuticle pusher (never metal). For thin film, dab a small amount of acetone on a cotton swab and wipe the inside. Let air dry 5-10 minutes.

Storage Between Wears

Return press-ons to their original tray, flat, in the molded positions. Store away from direct sunlight and heat. The molded foam protects the paint.

Re-Application for Second+ Wear

Same process as first wear: prep natural nails (alcohol wipe!), fresh glue or new tabs, press 20 seconds, seal seams. See our application guide.

When to Retire a Set

After 8-10 wears: visible chip at the tip, gel polish loss, color fade. You can refresh once with a clear top coat (extends 1-2 more wears). After that, retire and order a new set.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many times can I really reuse a set?

5 to 10 wears typical. Customers using Magic Remover often hit 8-10. Aggressive prying ends a set early.

Can I clean press-ons with soap and water?

Yes — gentle soap, soft cloth, no scrubbing. Don't immerse in water for long.

Will reused sets last as long as new?

Yes, with proper application each time. The press-on itself doesn't degrade; only the adhesive layer needs refresh.
